Massage Therapy Assessment and Treatment

Massage Therapy is the assessment and treatment of soft tissue and joints of the body due to physical dysfunction and pain. Registered Massage Therapists assess and treat physical dysfunction and pain of soft tissue and joints of the body, mostly by hands-on manipulation.

What Happens During a Massage Therapy Assessment and Treatment

During your first visit, you can expect your Registered Massage Therapist to assess your body’s soft tissue including muscles, connective tissue, ligaments, and tendons. After sharing their assessment with you, your massage therapist will set up an individualized treatment plan which may include the following techniques:

  • Soft tissue manipulation (Swedish massage is the technique)
  • Cupping
  • Remedial exercise programs
  • Client education programs
