Physiotherapy Intensives for Kids in Toronto and Etobicoke

Physiotherapy Intensives with the TheraSuit®

At All About Physio, we provide physiotherapy intensives for kids with the TheraSuit®. We use this unique rehabilitation device in physiotherapy to support physical and neurological rehabilitation. The TheraSuit® is a soft, breathable, dynamic orthotic suit with bungee-like cords attached. Patients wear this suit for support while a therapist leads them through guided exercises designed to strengthen and target specific muscular areas of concern.

Physiotherapy intensives often take place in the Universal Exercise Unit (UEU/Spider Cage) for stabilization of pulleys and bungees. This is a customizable therapy designed for your specific needs!

We are proud to provide our structured TheraSuit® Method Intensive Program. This is 3-4 weeks of intensive 3-hour physiotherapy, 5 days/week. To learn more, call our clinic, or get started by registering online!

The TheraSuit® Method Intensive Program in Etobicoke

The TheraSuit® Method Intensive program is a neurofunctional therapy program that consists of the use of the TheraSuit® and the UEU/Spider Cage. (See definitions below.) The combined use of this equipment helps children (and now adults) to develop new motor patterns and correct maladaptive patterns of movement. This is a neurofunctional program that consists of 3-4 weeks of intensive 3-hour physiotherapy, 5 days/week.

TheraSuit®: A soft, breathable, dynamic orthotic suit with bungee-like cords attached.

Universal Exercise Unit (Spider Cage): A supportive structure for exercises that incorporates bungees and pulleys. The UEU, often referred to as the Spider Cage, incorporates the use of a pulley system and bungees. Strengthening in the pulley system helps to target specific muscles groups and isolate weaker muscles. The use of the bungee suspensions allows the therapist to ensure the patient is well-aligned while performing functional activities while keeping the therapist’s hands free to assist in the activity.

What to Expect from Physiotherapy Intensives with The TheraSuit® Method

Prior to the start of your child’s intensive, we will establish a functional, attainable goal. Our team will then work on a plan and customize your child’s treatment to their unique needs.

  1. We begin with the use of hot packs and gentle massage or joint compressions to prep the muscles for work.
  2. Next, your child will complete a set of specific individualized strengthening exercises utilizing the UEU pulley system.
  3. Then your child will move into the spider cage to continue their strengthening in a functional, supported manner.
  4. Additional functional work outside of the cage may be needed, depending on your child’s progress and needs.

All exercises are carefully selected to reach our functional goal. We are creative and strive to make each session enjoyable for the child.
