What is naturopathic medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is an approach to care that looks for the root causes behind your symptoms, not just the symptoms themselves. Rather than managing one concern in isolation, your naturopathic doctor looks at your full health history, lifestyle, and goals to understand what’s really going on.

At All About Physio, naturopathic medicine is provided by Dr. Nazish Jawad, ND, a licensed naturopathic doctor who combines evidence-informed natural therapies with a strong foundation in conventional medicine. Naturopathic care can be used on its own or alongside your existing physiotherapy, chiropractic, or acupuncture care as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary plan.

New patients begin with a comprehensive initial consultation, where Dr. Nazish reviews your health history, current concerns, and goals before building a personalized care plan.

Our naturopathic approach

Naturopathic medicine looks at the whole person, not just a diagnosis. Dr. Nazish takes time to understand your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, and goals before recommending a plan that’s built around you.

Care may include clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, acupuncture, lifestyle counselling, and other evidence-informed therapies, selected based on what’s right for your stage of life and your health goals.

Our Naturopathic Services

Clinical nutrition

Personalized nutritional guidance based on your health concerns, eating habits, nutritional needs, and goals. Dr. Nazish reviews how you currently eat and recommends practical changes that fit your routine.

Herbal and botanical medicine

Plant-based preparations selected according to your individual needs, with consideration of the available evidence, safety, and potential interactions with any medications you take. Dr. Nazish will explain what she recommends, why, and how it fits into your care plan.

Acupuncture

Treatment involving fine, sterile needles inserted at selected points on the body. Acupuncture is often used as one part of an individualized care plan, alongside nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, to support your health goals. The needles stay in place for a short time while you rest.

Lifestyle counselling

Practical recommendations related to sleep, stress management, physical activity, nutrition, and daily routines to support sustainable changes. Goals are set with you, so they’re realistic for your schedule and stage of life.

Laboratory testing

Testing may be recommended when clinically appropriate to investigate your concerns or help guide treatment. If you’ve had recent bloodwork or other tests through your family doctor or specialist, bring the results with you. Existing results can help Dr. Nazish understand your health history and may reduce the need for repeat testing.

Traditional Chinese Medicine approaches

Traditional Chinese Medicine is a long-standing system of care that looks at health as a balance across the body’s systems and considers how different symptoms relate to one another. Where appropriate, selected approaches such as acupuncture and herbal medicine may be incorporated into your care plan alongside other evidence-informed therapies.

Cupping therapy

A technique that uses cups placed on the skin to create gentle suction, lifting the skin and underlying tissue. Cupping may be considered for certain muscle tension or pain-related concerns. During treatment, the cups may stay in one place or be moved slowly across the area. Afterward, temporary round marks may appear where the cups were placed, and these usually fade within about a week.

Chronic condition support

Nutrition, lifestyle guidance, and appropriate complementary therapies may support you in managing a chronic condition alongside your existing medical care. Dr. Nazish reviews your current treatment and medications so recommendations fit safely with the care you receive from your doctor or specialist.
