Dance is a universal language used to express emotions through movement. Some people might not consider dance as a form of official sports, but dance is by no means easy. Dance requires precision, coordination, power, flexibility, strength, endurance, and musicality. Dance comes in very different styles: ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, hip-hop, Latin, ballroom, belly dance, Chinese dance, pole dance, aerial dance, ethnic dance to name a few. As a result, dance physiotherapy is a specific area of physiotherapy that specializes in assessing and treating dancers and artistic athletes’ injuries.

As physiotherapists, we conduct a full assessment to evaluate what muscles in your body are tight and/or weak. We observe the way you stand, you walk, you squat, you jump to understand how you use your body, which can prediose your muscles to present the way it does. We take into consideration your past injuries, as they can limit your range of motion even long past the injury was healed. Once we understand the source of the problem, we will recommend some treatment options such as:

  • Manual therapy
  • Acupuncture/dry needling
  • Cupping
  • Taping
  • Rehab exercises prescription
  • Mobility training
  • Dance conditioning

We are specialize in treating musculoskeletal injuries to name a few:

  • Mechanical low back pain
  • SI joint pain
  • Femoroacetabular impingement (front of the hip pain)
  • Greater trochanteric pain syndrome (side of the hip pain)
